This month Non Stop Bhangra (NSB) is celebrating a milestone of hosting its 100th installment. What started as a night to celebrate the one year anniversary of Dholrhythms Dance Company in 2004 turned into a monthly event that is now in its 10th year of production. Since then, NSB has made this traditional style dance a dance floor craze in San Francisco, drawing the most diverse crowds to join in the frenzy.
To celebrate the milestone, Non Stop Bhangra is bringing in one of the best known producers of Bhangra, Panjabi MC, all the way from London, UK. Joining Panjabi MC will be the entire Non Stop Bhangra crew of Dholrhythms Dance Company, DJ Jimmy Love, Rav-E, Pavit & Mehul on Dhol, Amar on Visuals, plus NSB’s local favorite J. Boogie of Om Records. The night will be hosted by Mandeep Sethi, a California grown Emcee and an active contributor to India’s blooming hip-hop scene.
As always the night will feature dance lesson, dance performances, live dhol (drumming), DJ’s, Emcee’s, foodtruck by Curry Up’Now, great vibes, and one of the most diverse crowds seen on the dance floor!

About Special Guest Headliner: Panjabi MC
British artist, Panjabi MC is an International music producer and DJ born in the UK, known worldwide as a pioneer in the global popularization of traditional Punjabi music, merged with hip hop, R&B & dance. Panjabi MC (PMC) has picked up numerous awards, winning Best Dance Act at MTV Europe, Best UK Act of the Year at the Mobo’s, Best Dance Track in Germany, Italy and Switzerland, as well as, winning the World best-selling Indian recording artist of the year trophy at The World Music Awards.
PMC, started as a highly respected producer within the Asian music scene, giving the Asian underground 5 albums in the 90’s, each defining a new direction for Bhangra. Introducing traditional Desi sounds to both Hip-Hop and Garage, ultimately he combined the classical elements of India with the street, something no other Asian producer has achieved. With hit singles such as “Bari Barsi”, “Jatt Ho Giya Sharabee”, “Kori (Giddah)”, “Snake Charmer” and “Moorni”, Panjabi MC has become one of the most sought-after music producers. He has worked with a variety of influential artists and global brands including Jay-Z, Beenie Man, Twista, WWF, Inside Man (Movie), Zumba, Beyonce, DJ Premier and the Pussycat Dolls to name a few.
PMC’s most famous record ‘Mundian To Bach Ke’ charted Top Ten in most countries around the world reaching the number one spot in Italy and Belgium while selling over 250,000 copies in Germany alone. Aside from the massive success of ‘Mundian To Bach Ke’ in Europe, it was taken to another level when US hip-hop superstar Jay-Z, a multi-platinum, 10 time Grammy Award winner and one of the most prolific artists of our time, personally asked to collaborate on the record now titled “Beware of the Boys”. The song rode high on the US Billboard Hot 100 and gained huge support from UK radio stations nationwide. In 2012, “Mundian To Bach Ke” was included in dance game release of ‘Dance Central 3’ and ‘Just Dance 4’ alongside British artist Jessie J, One Direction and Cher Lloyd. During the same year, Paramount Pictures picked “Beware of the Boys” featuring Jay-Z as the official trailer soundtrack. A special version of the trailer showcasing the bhangra song was also featured in a Super Bowl XLVI commercial seen and heard by a record 111.3 million viewers. Panjabi MC’s success has continued in the US with his music being selected by Rhianna’s fashion designer Jeremy Scott to launch his spring 2013 fashion show at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
In 2014, Panjabi MC embarks on a North American tour being featured in cities such as New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and finishing it in San Francisco at Non Stop Bhangra!
Although we have seen his profile grow in different territories in the entertainment industry, Panjabi MC has continued to provide official remixes for artist such as Cher Lloyd (Swagger Jagger) and Lady Gaga (Judas) while feeding raw Punjabi songs to the Asian music scene. Having played to audiences in almost every country in the world, Panjabi MC is set to reach new peaks with his album “56 Districts”.
